Dayton Academy Gymnastics
Strong minds and healthy bodies start at Dayton Academy! This philosophy is confirmed by studies showing that children learn cognitive skills more effectively in an environment that includes the body as well as the mind.

Gymlets
Our gymnastics instruction starts as early as 18 months with our "Moms and Tots" program. From there, our "Gymlets" move into the 2-3 year old program then up to the 4-5 year old age class. For all our "Gymlets", body management skills are the focus. They are introduced to all the apparatus, most of which are scaled down to their sizes. Their classes are held in our kid-friendly "Mini Gym". Instruction is combined with rhythmic games and activities to make learning fun.

Instructional Gymnastics
Instructional gymnastics is the next progression following Gymlets. At Dayton Academy, we teach a progressive program, which simply put, means that our boys and girls move through the program based on ability rather than age.
All beginners start at the first level and, as they master those skills, they immediately move to the next level until they reach the competitive levels beginning at boys and girls level 4.
All Instructional gymnastics classes are 1 1/2 hours long and are structured beginning with a warm-up/stretch followed by rotation through each gymnastic event, classes culminate with trampoline play or a group game!

Dayton Academy's Advanced/Teamlettes/Tumblettes
When our Gymlet instructors see certain aptitudes, advanced degrees of skill, or earnest desires to learn, they move the gymnasts into either the Teamlette of Tumblette classes...bypassing the normal level 1-2-3 progression. The Advanced program focuses on level-1 skills, the Tumblettes work on levels 1-2 skills, and the Teamlettes master level-3 skills. Why not just put them in those classes? Unfortunately, many times, their bodies are ready for advanced training, but mentally they are still only 3, 4, or 5. By keeping them together, we can introduce the skills at a level of instruction they will understand. This program has proven very successful. |
